I just wish they had talked more about why so many women are scheduling cesareans or how doctors/hospitals and defensive medicine are partially to blame.
I thought it was funny that they highlighted Mt. Sinai hospital... don't they have like a 45% cesarean rate?! I know they're one of the highest in the nation.
Hmm... maybe not quite that high, actually. But check this out: http://www.theunnecesarean.com/blog/2009/10/6/flashback-to-1986-researchers-say-cesarean-rate-can-drop-wit.html
Apparently they used to think a 10% cesarean rate would be a good idea! And that was when their rate was only 20%! Wow how quickly things can change.

Yeah... I thought the name Mt. Sinai sounded familiar. I guess it makes sense that they're on top of the cesarean precautions then. Oy.

Well that's Mt. Sinai in Chicago, though... the one on the ABC report was referring to Mt. Sinai in NYC.
Although they're not as bad as I thought (32.7% cesarean rate), they're still one of the highest in Manhattan.
