One in 1,000 c-sections ends in "catastrophic bleeding." Did you know that? I sure didn't. That seems like a LOT. Here's a really, really sad news story. Coincidentally, the whole ordeal started with preeclampsia (subject of my last post and all the more reason to do everything we can to avoid it). Preeclampsia leads to a failed induction leads to c-section leads to catastrophic bleeding leads to death. So, so sad.
Stories like this really put articles like this one into perspective. (See here for some facts about the demand for elective cesareans).

Normally I think that I should be less judgmental and realize that each person has their individual circumstances and to "live and let live", yada yada yada... but I just cannot hold back tonight.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?!?!? WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE A CESAREAN?!?!?! HOW CAN YOU BE SUCH AN IDIOT?!
Ok, I'm done now. Thanks. :)
Hee hee.
(My reaction too.)
Kinda like it's hard for me accept that I can't make people care enough to educate themselves about the risks of birth interventions or put as much care into choosing a birth attendant as they would choosing a car or house... you gotta shop around, people! You gotta check out the stats! Sheesh!
Wow, that is terribly sad.
I had commented before about being induced due to PE and let me tell you I was terrified! I would never electively ask for intervention. It's just crazy.
