Songs for my birth

I realized, as I was burning my cd yesterday, that I never updated you all about the music I finally chose for my birthing playlist. I really appreciated all your suggestions. Thanks to you, I included some music I never would have considered or known about otherwise... Gladiator sountrack?! ;-) So... here's my list interspersed with commentary about why I included each song. My this post really got LONG.

1) Storm - Powerful, Exhilarating Thunderstorm Sounds (Calmsound, Nature Sounds)
This is a long track of a thunderstorm. It starts with a huge crash of thunder (a little jarring), but there's something about the power of it that soothes and energizes me at the same time. I love the sound of rain....

Ooh I love it. I'm so glad you liked the Gladiator soundtrack... that was the soundtrack to my friend's natural birth, and she LOVED it. That's where I got the idea. :)

I love it too! I'm so going to check those all out ... the Gladiator soundtrack too.

Sarah M's "Angel" always makes me sad. I hope this won't influence your love of the song, because it really is beautiful and about hope and comfort and things ... but I've heard it sung at three suicide funerals. So it just has some bittersweet connotations for me. /random tangent

I think this music will be great for your birth experience.

Putting together birth music is such an awesome experience . . . I had several different 'playlists' . . . one that was sweet, gentle music with words, two were songs I loved to sing along to (one more upbeat, Jimmy Eat World, some early '90s hip hop, some club music and one more mellow, Tori Amos, Incubus, Sarah M), hymns (instrumental), church music (with words), relaxation music (spa music/enya) . . . never did get to listen to much though, since I was walking the halls ALL night long sans ipod trying to get labor to start after my water broke . . .
